When Christine Vinces joined SPC as a temporary employee 15 years ago, she never imagined where her career would take her.
She started in administration before moving into office management and project controls, where she worked as a cost engineer and later a cost manager. Her journey recently led to a promotion to payroll manager, marking another milestone in a career filled with new challenges and opportunities.
“Over the past 15 years, my career has been a journey of growth, learning, and unexpected opportunities,” Christine says.
Each role helped Christine develop new skills and gain a deeper understanding of the construction industry. By embracing unfamiliar responsibilities, she learned how different teams work together to deliver successful projects.
The People Behind Her Growth
Christine credits much of her professional growth to the managers, mentors and colleagues who recognized her potential and encouraged her to pursue new opportunities.
“Many have believed in me even when I doubted myself, and their support and guidance have given me the confidence to grow both personally and professionally,” she says.
Their encouragement helped her build confidence, take on new challenges and develop lasting relationships throughout her 15 years with SPC.
Finding Purpose in Every Role
Working across different departments has given Christine a greater appreciation for the people who contribute to construction projects, both in the field and behind the scenes.
“Having worked in different roles throughout my career, I've come to appreciate how every department and every individual plays an important part in the bigger picture,” she says.
For Christine, that perspective reinforces the pride she takes in working in an industry that shapes communities and creates lasting impact.
“Even though my work has always been behind the scenes, it's rewarding to know that I've contributed to something meaningful and lasting,” she says.
Embracing New Opportunities
As Christine steps into her new role as payroll manager, she encourages others considering a career in construction to explore the opportunities available throughout the industry.
“Construction is an industry where hard work, curiosity, and a willingness to take on new challenges can open doors you never expected,” she says.
Her advice reflects the approach that has guided her own career: Keep an open mind, embrace opportunities and never stop learning.
