SPC's work is on full display as a once congested and underutilized area now hosts thousands during the city's electric Finals run.
As the New York Knicks face the Spurs in their first National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals appearance since 1999, all eyes are on Madison Square Garden. Across the city, fans are coming together to support their team, and nowhere is this more visible than outside the arena itself.
Since the start of the playoffs, Plaza 33 has hosted Knicks watch parties, drawing thousands of passionate fans for every game. Just a few years ago, this space was a congested intersection outside Penn Station, and it would have been hard to imagine what it would become; a dynamic public plaza capable of hosting over 6,000 fans.
SPC, in collaboration with Turner Construction played a key role in transforming the Penn Plaza District, including the installation of over 90,000 square feet of stone pavers, roadway reconstruction, upgrades to drainage systems and the integration of sustainable landscaping. These improvements created a vibrant, community-oriented public space featuring lush greenery, seating, and other site furnishings. The project completely revitalized the Penn District, enhancing the neighborhood's functionality, accessibility, and overall appeal for residents, workers, and visitors alike.
Today, Penn Plaza supports more than 600,000 daily pedestrians and serves as a gathering place for major city moments, bringing people together to celebrate their teams, their city, and their community. SPC is proud to have played a major role in bringing this transformative project to life.
